Food and event photography began a few years ago when I was trying to get into an event to photograph I approached the marketing / branding company Exqusitamente and prepared a quick portfolio for them. They liked it and asked that I photograph AltaMed’s East L.A. Meets Napa. This year was the 4th year in a row that I cover the event along with O.C. Meets Napa.
Since then I have photographed many events including Eat Uptown Food Festival, San Gabriel’s Dumpling & Beer festival, Proyecto Pastoral 30th Anniversary Gala at City Club L.A., The Hispanic Motor Press Awards, several Chef Throwdowns & Sabor A Mi at The Knotted Apron, along with various dinner events at Seta Dine Lounge in Uptown Whittier.
The most recent food & wine events I have photographed are A taste of Rio at Rio Hondo College, L.A Wine Fest in Long Beach, Uncorked Wine Festivals at L.A.'s iconic Union Station and The Good Food Gala at Vibiana in DTLA formerly known as St Vibiana’s cathedral. And, of course, Alta Med’s East L.A. Meets Napa & O.C. Meets Napa.
Photographing these events in a fast moving environment has allowed me to highlight the food so the audience can almost "taste" the dish, while finding a balance between the plating, background, and surroundings. In turn it has taught me patience while working with these similar challenges in a restaurant setting.
Professional event photography can capture the most minute details, your guest enjoying themselves, the entertainment, the spirit of the and venue, and all the delicious food, drinks and desserts.
The images captured can be used for both print and digital, media purposes, social media and will tell the story of your special day, showcase your event, or be used to promote future events.
